Talking Spring Trends 2015 and New York Fashion Week! | Miami Fashion Blogger

If you follow me on Instagram then you will already know I got the great pleasure of a few show invites to New York Fashion Week this year. So instead of going show by show which is what I’ve done in the past Im going to do a collaboration of the shows and talk Trend Forecasting for Spring 2015.

Trends:

Off the Shoulder

Dress: Bcbg

There was a lot of falling off the shoulder, asymmetrical shoulder and just plain off the shoulder dresses. Some of the pictures below also display this trend. This spring Bcbg collection is flowy and simple. I can’t wait to get my hands in it, especially this dress!

Blue badgley Mischka, Spring 2015 trends

Arctic Blue

Dress: Badgley Mischka

Love this color, so I’m happy it was all over the runways. The things Badgley Mischka can do for the feminine silhouette. The Bcbg dress above is also this color.

Mod

Dress: Victoria Beckham

This is another trend I can’t get enough of. It’s also quite popular for fall this year as well. Groovy!

Tied Waist Sash

Dress: DVF

So much of this was on the runways. Almost all dresses were paired with a tied side sash like this with hanging ends. Love this DVF style!

Cream

Jumper: Elizabeth and James
Designers couldn’t get enough of it. It less harsh then white for a softer look. Elizabeth and James got it right with this jumper too.

Crop Tops

Shirt and Pants: Donna Karan
They were here this year and they’ll be here the next. Multiple designers kept this style in their Spring 2015 looks. Donna Karen had some of my faves.

Garden Party Florals

Dress: Altuzarra

Spring just makes you think of flowers and there will be Spring Florals to the end of time. Some designers leaned in a more oriental floral while others did not. I love the color of this Altuzarra.

Shirt Dresses

Dress: Versus Versace
The Shirt Dress, simple and sexy and Donatella knows sexy. Enough said.

Abstract Prints

Dress: 3.1 Phillip Lim

Abstract prints and Mod are two peas in a pod. I would say its going to be a Spring mood if you will and no one does it like Lim.

Metallics

Dress: Dion Lee
Also another trend that seems to be resurfacing season after season. I love the Modern feel of this Dress. Dion Lee is one of my favorite designers. I think his designs are truly unique, and his futuristic shows just slay me.

Spring trends, Striped pants, Mara Hoffman

Coolots

Pants and Crop: Mara Hoffman

Coolots? I know. I don’t think its a style I will indulge in due to my height but I definitely would If I were about.. ohh 6 inches taller. I mean seriously how comfortable do those look, and the print.. Mara always knows how to get me excited about prints.

Sporty

Pants and Jacket: Alexander Wang
No one does sporty like Alexander Wang. Think sneakers, tennis skirts and bold colors. So Street Chic.

Accordion Pleats

Skirt and Shirt: Zimmerman

Pleats were rocked all over the Runways. Zimmerman created my favorite version of pleats. They were bold and structured. Alexander Wang pleats came in the version of tennis looking skirts and dresses. Either way you’ll be seeing them.

Now for my a little bit about my experience… What can I say, Amazing. The shows were great and everything I could have hoped for. This was my first year attending and it has always been an absolute dream of mine to go. It was a bit surreal when the lights turned off and the models started walking down the runways.

Ever since I was young, I would always follow and watch the shows from my laptop so to actually be there and experience it first hand really was a dream come true. Seeing the movement of the fabrics and textures is something is something that really makes me happy…. its the little things you know? It’s also really great to feel the whole mood and vision the designer wants his or her audience to feel in relation to the designs. Weather it be the music playing, stage props or hair and makeup. It gives the clothes energy and allows you to see them in your life and how you’ll feel wearing them. I really think thats what fashion is all about, allowing people to properly express themselves from the inside out. Thanks for reading and curious to hear any comments on Spring 2015 trends. Xx Nik
